Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God – 01st January 2012

Fr. Michael writes:   Mother of God; Our Mother; Mother of the Church.  It is so good to start the New Year by turning to Mary.  Mary’s last recorded words were at the wedding at Cana:- “Do whatever he tells you”.  No woman ever took her own advice so completely to heart.  It is because Mary was so faithful; so positively and courageously faithful, that she represents such a tremendous challenge and that she is for us such an inspiring model.  I hope that we will honour her as God’s mother, trust her as our own, and imitate her gladly in our fidelity to Christ and his Church.  If we do that I am sure that for all of us it will be a happy New Year.

A very happy and holy 2012 to you all.Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God
